Level of Effort: Let's Drink Mimosas and Pester a Quasi-Independent Government Agency
Date and Time: Sat 3/25 12pm

As we have highlighted in several past alerts, over the next 8 years the Long Bridge project will dramatically improve transportation across the Potomac River, by doubling rail capacity and building a brand new connection for people walking and biking from Long Bridge Park in Arlington to East Potomac Park in DC.

The lead agency for the project is hosting a pop-up event at the Long Bridge Park Aquatics Center this Saturday, March 25th from 1pm-3pm.  After some internal discussion, we decided that if we're going to have to leave the house on a Saturday afternoon, there might as well be brunch involved, and if we're going to go to Crystal City, why not check out the fantastic new bike infrastructure on Clark Street?

So here's the plan if this sounds like your kind of day:

  1. 12pm - Brunch at The Freshman on Crystal Drive
  2. 1pm-ish - Head up to the Long Bridge Aquatics Center & give some feedback on the Long Bridge Project at their pop-up event.
  3. 1:30pm-ish - Ride down to experience the 2-way protected bike lane on Clark Street that was installed late last year.

If weather permits we will dine outside on the patio, if not we will be inside.  The event will happen rain or shine.

Please RSVP (buy a free ticket) so we have a headcount for the restaurant. There are Capital Bikeshare Stations convenient to both the Freshman and Long Bridge Park for those without bikes who may want to participate. Can't make the event but want to weigh in on the Long Bridge Project?  See our separate alert with talking points for their online survey!
