Ballston's Harris Teeter is now located in one of Arlington's newest buildings, so the sidewalks along Glebe and what I'm going to call Randolph are in excellent condition. Both sidewalks feature a buffer zone between the walkway and the curb, fostering a sense of safety and well-being that you just don't get on many nearby segments of Glebe. The buffer zone, if that's the right term, includes young trees, bike racks, and various sidewalk furniture, such as benches and trash cans. And - almost forgot - lights of such a design as to meet any pedestrian's criteria.

The store itself features two entrances: one at the corner of Glebe and Randolph, presumably for the convenience of customers with active lifestyles, and another - for drivers - farther along Henderson, by the parking lot, which is behind the store. The nearest bus stop, on Glebe, is only 525 feet from the entrance, which I imagine is better than most grocery stores can say.
