Planning Fixes for 14 Langston Boulevard Intersections
Level of Effort: 20 minutes, at home in your PJs
Deadline: Sun 10/25 11:59pm

Following the adoption of the Langston Boulevard Plan, the county is doing detailed intesection studies to plan actual capital projects to improve intersection safety along the corridor.  These plans will guide both short-term capital improvements, as well as the improvements that will be required in the long-term with the help of additional land from redevelopment.  Weigh-in now on 14 different intersections. This is a deep, in the weeds public engagement, so don't be afraid to lean on our suggested feedback (below).

Area 2 West - Lexington
The space currently devoted to the center median would be better reallocated to a pedestrian refuge rather than a left-turn lane.

Area 2 West - Kensington
I fully support all of the proposed improvements.

Area 2 West - Harrison
I fully support all of the proposed improvements.

Area 2 East - George Mason Drive
Why does the bus/bike lane/zone in the northeast corner of the intersection go away on the short-term improvements version?  Great to see the southbound bike lane extended to reach Langston in the short-term improvements.  We will need to go even further to create an all-ages and abilities facility if draft Transportation plan is adopted as-is with George Mason Drive becoming the primary north-south bike corridor in this area of the county.

Area 2 East - Edison
I fully support all of the proposed improvements.

Area 2 East - Culpeper
Need to figure out how northbound cyclists are supposed to transition from Culpepper St to Columbus St to continue going North. With 1-way PBLs on each side and no crossing assistance at Columbus, we will end up with sidewalk riding and/or salmoning in the bike lane.

Area 2 East - Glebe Rd
If the new right turn lane in the long-term improvements diagram is there so that right turns can be separated from bike & pedestrians crossing Glebe, then I fully suport all of the proposed improvements.  If it is just there for traffic flow, then it is a waste of land that could be better used for a number of other purposes.

Area 3 West
Short-Term: LOVE the bike connectivity improvements around Old Dominion drive.
Long-Term: Concerned about north-south bike connectivity here. Southbound cyclists will struggle trying to connect from Old Dominion Drive to Albemarle (both priority bike corridors in the draft transpo plan) because no light at Albemarle and 1-way PBL on each side configuration of Langston. North-south bike connection doesn't seem to be supported in the long-term configuration between Woodrow and Wakefield (both priority bike corridors in the draft transpo plan). So no good way to cross Langston on a bike between Quincy and George Mason Drive? (1.5 miles)
