This Whole Foods feels like it's stuck in the past. With the Clarendon Crossing development directly adjacent to it serving as a great example of the possibility of a nicer, more human-scale experience (including the pedestrianization of the street/loop nearest to the Barnes and Noble), the contrast when trying to shop at this Whole Foods is palpable. In still trying to accommodate car traffic in a relatively compact surface lot, the experience when arriving by foot, bike, and yes, especially car, is heavily diminished. There is no reason why Whole Foods couldn't share parking with the ample spaces available in the Clarendon Crossing's garages, freeing up the land out front for better accessibility from Edgewood (WHY is there a literal wall around the parking lot?), better bike parking than a cramped wave rack, and maybe even a plaza a la the space on the corner near Seamore's where run clubs often gather. It will still score decently on our objective criteria, but don't let that stop you from imagining how much better it could be.
