Tell Alexandria City Council: We Support a People-Friendly King Street
Level of Effort: 5 minutes, at home in your PJs
Deadline: ~Sun 10/6 11:59pm

The King Street-Bradlee project on the Arlington-Alexandria border could bring protected bike lanes, a dedicated bus lane, wider sidewalks, and other hugely-important improvements to this important corridor, but it needs your support!  Staff has selected Option 2 (our preferred option - see our alert from March for more details), the Alexandria Traffic and Parking Board has recommended Option 2, but now it goes to a vote at Alexandria City Council.  Makes sure this great project stays on track by sending a quick note of support to City Council.

What is the nature of your request: Legislative or Policy Issues
Is your request related to the upcoming public hearing or Council meeting: Yes
Additional Information:
I support the staff recommendation OPTION 2 on Bradlee to convert most of the service lane to one way.

Please vote ‘yes’ for Option 2 because:

  • It has the highest scores on safety because of the protected bike lanes, a widened sidewalk, and improved pedestrian safety at all the crossings along King Street
  • It provides a dedicated bus lane to make service faster and more efficient
  • It provides a safe bike lane connecting the Van Dorn Bike lanes to the King St bike lanes
  • It has green infrastructure and water mitigation measures to help the entire community even those downstream
  • It was supported unanimously by the Traffic and Parking Board
